I bought this bed for my two Chihuahuas (6.5 and 7.5 pounds) to replace a worn out bed. The medium size gives them extra space, giving them plenty of sleeping options. They really seem to like it. The only thing I would have preferred would be higher sides as they like the sense of security but overall I'm very satisfied. I love knowing I can put my entire bed in a front load washing machine. I can't yet comment on the strength of this bed, but the materials appear to be solid and all stitching is solid. One of my dogs will scratch on beds that don't feel soft enough, but this bed stands the test and he doesn't try to shake it up, which should help the bed's durability. The inside of the bed is approximately 15 inches wide and 22 inches long.
