I have been building a watch collection and needed a place to store my best and favorite watches. I thought this basic wood watch box would be a good start. The box is very lightweight when I picked it up and is constructed from bare Paulownia wood which is similar to balsa wood but stronger and water resistant so the wood will not warp if exposed to moisture. Overall it has a very unfinished rustic appearance (this gives you an option of staining or painting the box with a different color).The ten watch compartments are roomy for the larger size watches, 44mm or 46mm and easily fit smaller watches. Burlap pillows are rather stiff and glued together, I wish they had used a nicer material and in a different color, black or gray to offset the watches and the box. The watch band pushes over the pillow easily, the buckle gives the watch a slight forward angle for a nice display through the glass. You also have the option of removing the pillows and placing several watches in one compartment. There is also plenty of space between my watches and the glass lid when it's closed.The lower drawer is nice for rings, watch parts, cuff links or other jewelry. The drawer does pull out smoothly with a loose fit. The drawer can be fully removed from the box of you wish to adjust items. The bottom of the box has a felt padding to prevent scratches to your desktop and cushion the box. Overall I like the watch box as a basic starter it is functional but is not that glamorous, no polished stained wood or velvet interior lining, no lock, just a basic swing clasp in brass.
