The yellow tip has two optical fibers and one fiber goes to one of the forked ends. Depending on the input sensitivity of the device, it will determine whether it works or not depending on which end of this splitter it is connected to. Device splitter end #2, yellow tip end connected to soundbar input - no sound. I removed block #2 and connected the bifurcated end of block #1 directly to the soundbar input - there was sound. On closer inspection, the light filled the entire surface of the direct link, but illuminated only a third of the surface of Unit #2's yellow tip. I had to return unit 2 and replace it with an active optical cable hub with selectable inputs and one output - the one that goes to the soundbar. Inexpensive solution when it worked well, but now it sounds good and I'm happy with it.
