The velcro seems super strong and takes some effort to open
Strong material but a bit rough. works over clothes. My niece is 3 and can also unbuckle the buckles that many of them have on the front. This leash attaches to a D-ring at the center back. The velcro feels sturdy and requires a fair amount of force to detach. The leash portion is also detachable and can be used as a hand leash (Velcro) if it outgrows the strap fit. Worked like a charm at Disney. Good price, great quality.
