Not quite VESA compatible

The standard VESA adapter you receive fits two hole pattern sizes, for which this monitor uses the smaller hole pattern. However, adapters work for both, and HDMI and digital video connections get in the way. Using a digital video cable, I was able to install the cable and gently slide the VESA plate open. Using HDMI (the cable that came with the monitor) I was unable to fully attach the VESA plate (see image). Surprisingly, the monitor does not come with a digital video cable. It comes with a 15-pin Type-D analog video cable and an HDMI cable. The 15-pin D connector isn't VESA mount compatible either, but nobody else uses it anyway. The on/off switch is located on the back of the monitor, bottom center. IDK, for better or worse, I spent some time fiddling with the on/off indicator before realizing it wouldn't respond. Pleasant positive press on the power button. I didn't find any external buttons to adjust the picture (i.e. to launch the settings menu). I may have to use RTFM and see what to do with it, but the image worked right out of the box, so I won't reference the manual. Worked well in page orientation (and landscape as well).
