They definitely have an old-school design feel to them. I didn't want full noise cancellation as I wanted to talk to them when needed. I love that this pair has a retractable cord which greatly reduces the chance of tearing like the last corded pair and that it folds up for easy storage. He has the ability to make phone calls, which I haven't tested, but it's nice. I have a lot of headphones and I would say they are on the low end for me and that's fine so my kids don't use them for too long anyway. The sound quality is ok compared to what I expected at this price point, which I think might be a bit low for a pair of kids' headphones.
