My 4 star rating for DMI Donut Pillow for Tailbone Pain is based on the belief that it should work properly for most people. The cover makes it more attractive than a regular donut pillow. My particular problem is that I have a pinched nerve that signals pain in the lower right and especially deep in my right buttock. It was so intense that I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes. I was able to get some relief with the DMI donut cushion for tailbone pain, but only after I moved it. Once the pad compresses under the weight, it has minimal impact. For my needs, the pad needs to keep the weight off the pivot point of the hips. This is a complex and perhaps not a typical or simple design for any type of pillow. I tried several options including a custom pillow that my wife made at my suggestion. DMI Donut Pillow worked better for coccyx pain. If my problem were more like those listed in the full name of this seat cushion (hemorrhoids, sciatica, prostate, pregnancy and childbirth), my experience would probably be better.
