I have a lot of watercolor, gouache and poster paints. I bought this for my poster paint to keep it wet. Go ahead and buy one that has an extra hand pallet and metal stick. A metal rod is great for taming color in deep wells. It has a removable pallet that slides under the box and strong clips that are used to close the lid. The beauty of this is that small squares of silicone cover the indentation on the inside of the lid. Rather than being confusing and losing the silicone seal that surrounds each well that can still contain a leak. I think you obviously don't want to store paint vertically, but it offers about 99% protection if you have time to adjust the palette layer. I would probably still put it horizontally if I had to take it somewhere.
