The fabric is soft, pulls a lot of tresses, but that can be fixed with a roller. It's perfect for my laptop, books and school supplies. It's very spacious. One strap is longer than the other, even when I adjusted it, one strap was longer than the other. I would not recommend putting phones or coffee mugs in the "cup holder" pockets even though they are too small! You can put pens in there.
