Damaged tools and supplies

I tried this because one of my favorite YouTubers used it and it looked like it would blend out smoothly and take a lot less time than a beauty blender. I wanted to like this sponge so much that I gave it a try instead of buying a new cosmetic bag at the same price. It was super-super-soft, which was different, but I think that played a part in why I had trouble with it. I am disappointed because there was a crack on the top of my sponge and I used it anyway following the instructions (wet it first etc.) and as I used it the crack got worse and the small pieces started falling off. I was surprised that the sponge didn't really soak up this mush like a base like I thought it would because it was so soft. When I mixed it into the foundation it stayed on the skin instead of sinking in and I'm not sure if it was like a sponge or if it was because I had other issues with it. Also, I tried to clean the sponge after using it and the tears kept getting worse even though I was very gentle. The foundation stain will not go away no matter what happens after cleaning. The packaging is very cute and beautiful, so this one is good. I think mine was just defective and I'd love to give it a second chance, but I'm not paying another $20 for something that should have been right from the start!
