Works as expected when cycling

I just bought a new 2018 Giant Explore e-bike, only front suspension and hardtail. Coming off my old dual suspension bike I missed the ride so I checked out the seat suspension. It turns out these things range across the price range and vary in design. What attracted me to it was the ease of going straight down and the low price. The build quality is really good, well made with a good fit and finish without hesitation. It fits perfectly on my Giant bike. One issue was that my saddle was set low, but it worked great when pushed all the way into the bike frame, the saddle stayed at the same height as the original seatpost. As already mentioned, the suspension travel is not very large compared to the full suspension. I'm 180# and the setting straight out of the box was spot on, enough compression when I'm on the bike and enough travel when I hit bumps. It's small, but certainly better than nothing than a hard seat. It also has rubber stops in the tube at the bottom of the spring. So when you hit hard there's cushioning, I love that. where it was, meaning the only adjustment to what I got was turning the nut (harder). I also read in the attached material that they come in 3 different stiffness patterns, mine was apparently 'medium'. I would advise anyone significantly lighter than me, 180#, to get a lighter suspension model. Overall I'm happy with it and can't imagine taking it off my new bike. Is it important.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • cable is shorter than others
