Review on ๐Ÿ’ป HUO JI E-Yooso Z-88 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Metal Panel, Red Switches, Compact 81 Keys - Mac/PC Compatible, Silver/White by Ben Demers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for 75% but not so good for replacing switches

If you buy this keyboard for its cheap 75% keystroke and nice RGB, this is a good choice - 4/5 stars. Solid board, small form factor, thin bezel - just a good board. Be careful, you are buying a legitimate click here; From Clicky Switches, "Outemu Blues" are considered louder than their Cherry or Gateron counterparts. Some might be disappointed by the lack of so many million shades of color or such and such a color option, but for half the price of a typical 75% keyboard that seems par for the course. However, I bought this to replace the switches - as advertised. Since it's a DIY solderless board, my erg needs to be connected, right? Ah no. Not really. Two big problems: First, about 15 original Outemu Blue switches were firmly attached to the circuit board. No soldering but some of them were held by weak glue. After a strong tension of the switch case, I opened the case. By carefully prying with a tiny screwdriver, it was possible to knock it out of the circuit board. Second, the copper pins on the Cherry switches are too big for the PCB holes. Outemu switches should be fine - just plug in with no problems. To fit the Cherry switches I took a nail file and filed each switch. After 4 hours of sawing through all the copper posts in the version of itself, the Cherry switches might fit. But after all that, I managed to get my keyboard 75% ergonomic and neat "standard semiotic" keycaps from SP. To recap, if you want a very clicky and accessible keyboard, this is a strong contender. If you want to replace the switches, you have more work to do. E-Element Z-88 RGB LED Backlit Waterproof Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with 81 Anti-Ghost Keys Blue DIY Switches White
