Review on South Main Hardware 888108 Stainless by Mark Green

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good for some specific use cases. Good to have on hand.

Excellent cable ties when the plastic is too hot or not strong enough. I used them to fix a broken bed rail, a metal tennis ball bucket, and a muffler bracket. The futon bed rail splintered when someone jumped on it. As an emergency measure, we packed three of them for a week before we could make a proper repair. It helped that they were incredibly good and could get caught between two pieces of wood that were practically touching. The metal tennis ball bucket has legs to allow it to stand upright when serving. These legs became a metal tube that was welded to the side, but the welds came undone. I installed three zip ties for each of the former welds and the bucket worked again. It seems sturdy and durable enough to work well. The coating on the bucket would prevent re-welding and I couldn't get the plastic zippers to hold it in place. The muffler bracket broke and this allowed me to do a temporary repair in a hot environment. I pierced the rubber where it didn't break and then the metal part of the car. Good enough to last at least a week or two. Good: - Withstands high temperatures - Very strong - Durable grip (smooth, no nicks.) Not so good: - You have to tighten them with needle nose pliers if you want them to stay tight. Look for numerous videos on YouTube demonstrating this - If the zip ties are tightened with pliers they can break, so some engineering is required to assemble them properly.
