I bought this mainly to use as a summer blanket on chilly nights. I used a regular blanket but don't care about its weight, unlike some who want weighted blankets. It's a light and extremely soft material that helps me stay comfortable on chilly nights without overheating, as when the weather is nice I prefer to leave the windows open rather than running the AC all the time. In the winter I have a full size plush microfiber blanket that I use with the top sheet and that's all I need for comfort so I no longer use a heated mattress pad. My wife will likely use the double as a throw to keep warm during the winter months while watching TV and reading.
