Super comfy pillow - wish it had a removable cover

Got this as another piece of the bed puzzle. For now, these include: a laptop, a bedside table, cable ties, some pet hair, and this reading pillow. I've had Tempurpedic mattresses and pillows, memory foam mattress toppers, memory foam pillows, but this is my first shredded memory foam product. . And compared to all the other foam products I've used for bed comfort over the years, I think it has its pros and cons. Cons or things to consider: 1. The pillow does not retain its shape like a traditional memory foam pillow. I find that I need to rearrange the foam in the pillow at least once a day by vigorously shaking and/or vigorously swelling, as pieces of foam tend to rub in the pillow with use, leaving the top empty and sagging and the bottom left hard. flattened with foam. I think manufacturers should consider incorporating a few inserts to hold the foam in certain places and avoid sagging. Maybe a snorkel in each sleeve and the base and top in the main pillow area? Just an idea - and it would help with problem number 2.2. Although this item is quite expensive compared to other bed reading pillows, you cannot remove and wash the cover. I have a feeling this means it's more disposable than 'Keeper' and priced about double the price of many other similar pillows which doesn't seem to align with the quality product they are selling you. For improvement, the manufacturer should make the body detachable and washable as above, and include pieces of foam.3. Very smelly, especially the first day! When I received this for the first time and unpacked it from the packaging, there was a strong smell of the styrofoam. I made the mistake of using it because it was convenient! - and the smell was so strong it gave me migraines from using it on my desktop when designing a new slicer that I got. Now the smell goes away within a day or two (mostly), but if you're very sensitive to smells - which I'm not, but this smell got to me so be aware - consider airing this baby in the spare room for a few days , perhaps with occasional stirring OR avoid altogether. The manufacturer will probably not be able to avoid this. Most memory foam stinks when it's fresh out of the factory.4. Handle. I use this. It works, but I can't say for how long. Let's just say it's not sewn on like the handle of an LL beanbag. The manufacturer could certainly add more material to the fabric and stitching and work on how the handle attaches. Good stuff! 1. This type has a nice soft cover that feels silky and slightly fluffy. The gray color is fairly neutral, looks good and suits both boys and girls. While crumbled foam does not retain its basic shape as well as solid pillows, it is very soft and comfortable. It's smaller than, say, fluffy down, but definitely softer than my firm Tempurpedic pillow, which is brick-like, especially when it's cold. Hmm, there seems to be more bad than good when it comes to writing, but a lovely softness that can lull you to sleep or lull you to sleep while reading overwhelms the dull pen and the stench that goes away. Basically, the only problem we have is that we don't have a removable cover and have to shake up the pillow a lot. I'm deducting a star for these reasons. I've included some photos of my desktop and some close-up shots of fabrics, so I hope this helps! If anything goes wrong I'll update this review, otherwise I'll probably just do an update after a while just to say the pillow is still alive and well. Any questions? Let me know! :-) UPDATE 01/01/2017: Yes, it's been about a year. Still feel the same - i.e. wish the lid was removable and I wish there were internal walls so the foam at the bottom doesn't rub off as easily, but it's still soft and looks good after a year of daily use, including lots of nights when I slept with it sitting up when I had a cold or something. A solid 4 but it would be a 5 if they made this rather expensive item with a removable cover so it could actually be washed. As it stands now, I put another pillow in front of her - so it never spills or sweats or anything weird - and I just spray sanitizer and/or essential oil spray on it to keep it as fresh as possible. This seems like a big oversight and enough to dock a star.
