This is not vegan leather. The material is soft and flexible. I was able to remove the buckle and trim the skin with scissors. Measured against another old belt that fits great and now my new belt fits great too. The leather has a pleasant smell and it also smells like the polish that was used on it. Good clean smell. No plastic smell. Unlike plastic, leather is biodegradable. The color is good and goes well with jeans. You can even wear jeans to work :)
