An interesting alternative to expensive waterproof/breathable pants.
Pretty big and baggy and I'm definitely not going to win any fashion awards with it. I looked like a real boy compared to another climber I met who was wearing arc'teryx waterproof, breathable pants. But they're cheap, very light, and have kept me dry descending Mount Adams at 4,000+ feet. I will buy them again because I've ruined too many expensive Gore-Tex pants on rocky and icy descents. I'm going to get my sewing machine out to make a few minor adjustments - slimming the waist and adding a dart or two and a velcro closure, reducing the Clem Cadiddlehopper factor a bit, and pulling up my hat for my vanity. I will also keep a pair in the car for emergencies and chains in the winter too.
