I have two young children who wear an 8.5 and a 6. I bought size XS based on the sizing chart and the little kid's heel space is about halfway down the foot so they don't fit. more. I wish I had tried before washing so I could go back. Also, they are very thick and there is no slip resistance on the bottom so my little one falls everywhere except the carpet.
