Doesn't work properly

The idea behind it is great, but my experience was less. This is the first day I'm using it and I've read the instructions several times to make sure I'm using it correctly. I have followed the instructions but the machine WILL NOT PERFORM A COMPLETE STEAM/BLENDER CYCLE. It works for about 10 minutes, maybe if at all it shuffles for a few seconds and then shuts off. I filled the water up to the max line and was below the max line with sweet potatoes in the cup. I've tried several times. Did I miss something? Or is this car a waste of money?
