Review on SUYPAS Kids Way Adventure Channels Electronic Birthday Set for Kids by Jamal Sandridge

Inaccurate and misleading

I remember getting a walkie-talkie as a kid and loving it. The range was fairly short and the sound quality fairly static, but we played them in and around the house quite a bit. I have long wanted a set that my kids can play with, but that I can also use for hiking on the go. When I saw them I thought they were pretty close to what I was looking for. Not overly expensive but with decent range, clear communication and I really liked the light and clock features. Unfortunately I am very disappointed with what they have to offer. There are no instructions out of the box. It doesn't usually matter much, and for the most part it's pretty easy to figure out everything but the clock. The clock displays the time and date. One button changes the setting, the other helps you set it, but it took me a bit of fiddling before I figured it out. Part of the problem was that the buttons aren't very responsive and when setting them it's hard to tell if you're setting the hour or month, minutes or day. The watch was already running when it arrived so it must have had its own battery which had to be disassembled to be replaced. Otherwise, each device requires three AAA batteries. The battery cover is screwed on, but difficult to remove even with the screw removed. My nine year old couldn't do it so probably childproofing would be needed. The light is controlled by a button on the front panel. It turns on and off, but not very brightly. The light coming from under the door into my dark bathroom helps more than that from afar. As for range. the list says three miles which is a joke. The package doesn't say anything but I asked my daughter to try it while they went to a place only a mile away. Before they were halfway there, we lost contact. You can walk maybe three miles on a clear day on flat, open ground, but I highly doubt it. The listing also says 22 channels and there's no way to change that, so I'm assuming it's a completely different product. The only thing I give it credit for, and the reason I gave it two stars instead of one, is that the signal is pretty clear. You have to wait a bit after pressing the button before you start speaking, but it's not the same static noise I experienced as a kid. This happens pretty clearly (assuming you're within range). I have a hard time recommending this product as anything other than a cheap toy. Still, I would advise it might be better to try another option.
