*WHY* why did Etymotic decide to change the wiring to an already proven winner? I've bought about 5 of these pieces over the years. Why so much? Because one person in the house lost her, but he liked her. A couple has a permanent home with a laptop. A couple has a permanent home next to my bedside table. A couple eventually died of old age. Etc. I liked these. And they must have sold well. Then someone from the Etymotic bean counter department must have said that the quality of the wiring needs to be changed to save pennies. The new one is terrible. It's dollar store, tough, crap, not suitable for flexible but strong headphone wiring. I no longer trust the brand. They're not dead to me, but I have to reevaluate all new products with a skeptical eye. Don't let accountants or marketers run the show. Back to engineering guidance!
