So I used to install classic pot lights because I was worried about the LED technology and the price. But now that I've worked both with and without glass, I don't think I'll ever go back. One of the challenges with back boxes is ensuring there is enough space above the light source. I always feel like I'm cutting an AC return or random cross bolt/bar. And if I can't move the obstacle, I end up patching the hole and shifting the light, and then my light sources are distributed unevenly. But with these lamps, that's not a problem. They are tubeless and require less than an inch of clearance. The small junction box/housing is also small and handy. You can do it because there is no lightbulb. It's just crazy LED technology. Very impressed with the brightness. I put four 6 inch lights in my bedroom and that was enough. maybe even murder. And the light is a much brighter true white light compared to my traditional canned bulbs which I understand are now more of a yellow tint. I want to replace all the lamps in my house. One thing to remember, without a sunken can, it's a bit messy. There isn't much between the first and second floors but with the roof above it is a bit messy with the insulation. Overall, this is a great product and a great price.
