I bought this thinking it would be good for mounting in small spaces as it doesn't need 2-3 feet on each side for a tripod leg. The footprint is small, but your background should be incredibly bright. This is not enough to support vinyl or thick photo backgrounds. I've tried a few and it either collapsed or fell off at the slightest imbalance or movement in the background. So I tried cotton rugs instead and it was a little bit better. I'd say if you just need to put some kind of sheet in the background of your video conference so people can't see your house and you have to set up and take down quickly, you'll be fine. If you really want to create a complete backdrop and use it for video or photography, get the larger two-stand sets. I almost returned it but in the end I didn't because Revain makes the returns process so complicated and no longer offers returns through Revain bookstores. So make sure you really want it. If you think you're going to test it and exchange it if it doesn't work, don't.
