You also get a circle cutter, which you should honestly throw in the trash because it's trash. But these are extra points, so no points are deducted for them. Ditto for the odd coloring book that was also included. You can use one of the discs as a guide to draw a circle around what you want on the button, or better yet, this works great with a print and cut machine. Your 1.25 inch circles. What you cut out will actually be slightly larger than the finished button as it wraps around the shape when you press the button. You paste the top, then your image, then the transparent top. it should be under the presser foot and push in. Wrap the paper image around the top of the button. Really chic and simple. You can buy refills from Revains for around $45 for 500 pen refills of this size. Great entry level machine, fun, also recommend.
