The device has enough ports to connect multiple devices.

The hub can connect drives to the iPad Pro so I can import images directly to Photos. This allows the HDMI output to be used for easier video playback (great for the grandkids in my car). I can finally connect wired headphones via a standard 3.5mm jack. At the moment, I'm not sure if the device's physical proximity to the iPad Pro is any better than Apple's approach of adding a short cable to the dongles. I understand why Apple does this, but sometimes the cable can get in the way.
