I bought this life jacket for my miniature dachshund (8 pounds) to go kayaking on the lake. When the vest arrived and was exactly as shown in the photos. The fit was good and easy to put on. My dog didn't seem to mind and wore it comfortably. Overall we were happy to use it with our pet on our kayaking trips. When we were finally able to get out on the lake, my dog fell off the front of the kayak and into the lake. I knew immediately that something was wrong. The vest is very buoyant but not properly balanced. The vest ensures that the dogs move underwater and their backs float above the water surface. Luckily, I was able to quickly maneuver in closer and use the grab handle to pull her out of the water. She was only in the water for about 15 seconds, but even then she was coughing up water because her face was pinched by the vest when she tried to swim.TLDR; Do not use this vest, it forces your dogs to keep their heads under water while they are floating in the air.
