I'm not using them for their intended purpose which is more of lighting down hallways maybe as a night toilet. I put them in the drawers of a multi-drawer storage organizer that's in the dark part of the rec room so when I open the drawer the light comes on and I can see what's in the drawer. They're great for that. The light is closed and faces down so I am not blinded when opening the drawer and all the contents are well lit. It reliably turns on every time I open the drawer and stays on long enough for me to grab what I need and close the drawer. Once closed, it quickly turns off in less than 30 seconds. This is the perfect solution. I can't comment on the battery life as I've only had them a few months, but they come with the original batteries I put in them (Energizers) and they're still very bright. I'm assuming that since they only turn on when the drawer is opened, they will last for years on a single set of batteries.
