Good shelf despite flaws

First of all the shelf was the perfect size for what we needed. and for less than $30 it was a good deal. The shelf is very easy to assemble. But in hindsight I had to add glue to each joint; this would help alleviate and in the future sagging of the shelves could eventually develop. Hanging the shelf would be much easier and quicker if the manufacturer provided a simple paper template. Instead, they just tell you to place four screws at precise points on the wall. It's up to you to find your own method. A long ruler or spirit level will definitely help; but I did it with a tape measure and a small level. Luckily my shelves were on the same level. Because you really only have one chance. But really. You can add a printed template for less than 5 cents and then only charge us 10 cents more for the product. Good. now with the bad. Didn't see other reviewers mention this, but. My boards are covered with light surface scratches. In two places a tree could be seen through the blackness; I covered them with marker. The boards are stacked together and sealed tightly with plastic so they cannot move around in the box. There are scratches on both sides of all boards and in the middle (see some examples in my photos). Therefore, the scratches were previously glued with plastic. I think maybe it was sent back to Revain and then repackaged by Revain. The good thing is that most are only visible when the light hits them from a certain angle (which is why my photos are weird). So I proceeded with the assembly. Once on the wall, the scratches were not noticeable at all.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
