You will need to connect the wires unless you also buy new taillights with an adapter built in.
I love the look and feel of the lights. The hardest part of the install is removing the mirror from the mount (until you watch tons of YouTube videos to finally decide which tabs to share.) Be sure to look at both lights before attempting to first install the wrong side. (Lesson learned) There are right and left marker lights. They are not identical. I had to crash in the rearview mirror, but it's easy to do. black to black color to color. If you don't have a helper, a bit of tape to secure the front of the mirror housing will make installation easier when wiring. Gives mirrors a fresh new look.
