NOT a Fast nor Smart charger

I bought this charger based off the description that it is a "Fast Smart Charger with Intelligent Controls". By this description, I expect it to charge 4 batteries quickly and once it reaches full charge, it would drop down to a trickle charge.I'm using a 24W dual port wall charger. The second port on the wall charger is not connected to anything. Hence the full 2.4A is available for this charging port. I put in the 4 2000mAh batteries that came with it and after 4 hours, I saw that 2 batteries were charged. It took another 30 minutes to charge the other 2 batteries.I was surprised by the amount of time it took so I decided to do a controlled test. I had 16 unused EBL 2800mAh ready to charge batteries and I did a test using this charger and my 7 year old Tenergy Smart charger. My Tenergy smart charger, charged all 4 batteries in 1.5 hours. The EBL charger took 4 hours and 15 minutes for similar batteries.I replaced the cable that came with this charger with my own 24AWG fast charge cable and repeated the experiment. I checked the 2 chargers after 2 hours and found the Tenergy charger had completed the charging. This EBL charger was still charging. I left both chargers as they were and returned to check after another 4 hours. The EBL charger had finished charging BUT the batteries were hot - not warm. The batteries in my Tenergy charger were just above cool - not even warm. This proved to me that the EBL charger is not an intelligent charger - i.e. it does not detect a full charge and drop the charge down to a trickle charge. If it continues charging the batteries at full charge, it will cut the life of the battery down. Conclusion: Neither a Fast charger nor an Intelligent charger. Back it goes to Ebay.

Pros
  • Use to go through a 10 pack from dollar general every 2 weeks. Lasts a week gaming without charge.
Cons
  • Additional batteries may be required for devices that require multiple batteries
