After 6 months of daily use this device is fully ok.1. The blue light cannot be turned off. I didn't care at first, but after a few months I wanted to turn it off. My device covers the entire surface of the fan but the lights are still visible on the sides.2. A RAID array with multiple hard drives, or a NAS, Tivo, or other device that weighs more than a Macbook Pro or mini desktop PC will cause the surface to sag inward and the fan blades to hit metal with every revolution . I had no problems with a mini desktop or MacBook Air.3 laptop. The surface is smooth and any device without rubber pads will slide if placed at an angle. I had no problems with the angled mini pc which has 4 pads at the bottom.4. The fan pulls air down from whatever is on it. I feel a significant drop in temperature on the surface of my device that was previously overheating. Note, however, that the fan motor itself generates a small amount of heat, so there's a trade-off here.
