Upgrade. Change 1 star to 3. It seems if you leave the heating pad in your bag for a while (I keep it in my jacket pocket) the heating pad gets hot, but once you start picking it up and holding it to get warm it will return to room temperature in a few minutes. So there is an advantage, but a lot of room for improvement! ----- Original Review starts below --- Don't waste your money! These things don't actually get warm, they get a little warmer than room temperature and maybe a little warmer if you press them against your body, like in your pocket, against your hips to attract thigh heat. I think it's the powdered Thermacare heat wraps you use to wrap sore muscles, but they need your body heat to generate warmth! Just holding those supposed hand warmers isn't enough to get enough warmth from your hands alone!
