I don't know why it got bad reviews, this crimp worked fine and didn't overheat like some others said. It has a range of different temperature settings which is great because I could see how hot I could heat it without melting my wig. You can see in these photos that it was at the third temperature, 180C, and my wig was fine. I would still do a strand test, start low and only work your way up to a safe level. It also heats up quickly so you don't have to wait too long to use it. Oh yes it also comes with a thermal glove which I didn't even know existed, that was great!
