This lamp is of very poor quality and design: 1) The biggest problem is that after only 30 minutes of operation (with a 100w bulb) the lamp started to emit toxic fumes . After only an hour of operation, the shroud was much hotter than seemed safe. I would never trust that lamp to be on in my office for ten hours a day. 2) When I moved the rotating arm to change the position of the light, the bulb blinked intermittently so I had to turn it off, let it cool, then adjust the bulb. 3) The lamp is also bad in design. The swing arm articulates well, but the lamp housing itself only swings back and forth along the axis of the swing arm - it's not a ball joint. This severely limits the lamp's adjustment options.
