Review on Efficient Cleaning with TAO Clean Sonic Makeup Brush Cleaner Cleaning Pods, 20 Count by Toni Cooper

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This removed years of built-in makeup. I'm rightly impressed!

I used some of my favorite old brushes I found deep in my bathroom drawer to test this unit. I never managed to clean them by rinsing them under the tap, so for years I just replaced them. If it didn't work I would end up throwing them away but they used to be my favorites so I stuck with them. As if I was waiting for a product like this to come into my life. I didn't realize how dirty the water was until I poured it down the sink. It looked like dirt. I regret not photographing it after the first wash. However, this is the second time I've done it. I figured I'd just run this a few more times to rinse better and the result is just AMAZING! The device itself is quite large, but like a washing machine, the more water, the better it cleans. When you see how dirty the water got after the first wash, you want as much as possible. The cleaner comes in capsules that melt after soaking in water for a minute or two. They are like washing machine and dishwasher capsules. The entire process took just ten minutes, less time than my failed attempts to clean them by hand. I'd say the results are pretty remarkable considering the brushes have been ingrained in makeup and dirt for years. Under normal circumstances and regular brush care, one cycle is sufficient. I did a total of five cycles, the first to wash and four to wash away any soap and dirt residue. Each cycle lasts two minutes and turns off automatically. You must use a towel as the vibration will cause the unit to detach from the countertop if the surface is wet. During use I have not noticed any water running over the edges. However, the brushes dripped when I removed them to fill the tub with water. There are no rubber feet or suction cups to keep it in place. No big deal, I just place the washcloth under the washcloth during the rinse cycle. I've used this on my cheap brushes and they haven't shed. So if you have expensive brushes, this is important!
