I understand how to put things together pretty well. No instructions at first, just a parts list and a flimsy schematic. I used the product photo to assemble it. The details are very rigid, which is both good and bad. Good for strength, bad for assembly (or disassembly once you get there). I had to use tools to connect the two parts of the platform and a hammer to make the remaining parts fit snugly. The fluffy pillow is very small, not useful in my opinion. It ties with bites instead of velcro so my cats tear it apart in no time. It sits slightly higher than the wire type, so take that into account if you have an older cat who can't jump. so tall. Edit * It's very durable. Accommodates an 18 and 13 lb cat together!
