UPDATE: I've had the case for about a year now. It's been holding up very well until recently, and now I've noticed that the two small tabs that attach the bottom of the case to the bottom of the case have come loose and no longer attach the front right corner of the case to the laptop. I know that when I press my wrists and palms onto the device, I naturally put pressure on this point. Unfortunately, after a few more tabs, I suspect the shell will no longer hold securely to the bottom of the laptop. I don't necessarily need a lid on my MacBook for the same reasons everyone else does, it looks cool and it's very thin and sleek in its own right. However, my likelihood of damaging or damaging my MacBook made me give it a try anyway. I've seen a few cases and they just looked silly, so I was a little worried that no matter what I tried I would be unhappy. So far I have been very happy with the choice of Supcase. This, of course, adds a bit of bulk/bulk to the device, but gives it a rugged yet sleek look that doesn't completely hide the coolness of the MacBook. The ventilation is very well done to match the Mac's airflow. The fit is fantastic, with the hinge and all in mind, but still with clips in key areas around the Mac to keep it securely in place. The cutouts around the USB-C ports are well done to allow for connectors, which can be a bit bulkier than Apple's standard cable. I would say my only complaint is that the case cover part is quite heavy. So if you pull the laptop forward or backward fast enough, the lid will move due to the weight of the top case. And when you want to close the lid, it doesn't take much effort because the weight of the top lid helps to close it. Don't think it's a big deal, it's just noticeably different from closing with a case versus closing without. I didn't send it back so that says a lot as I'm very picky about shape and looks.
