I have very dry skin. I've recently started using retinol a few times a week and I've started getting red dry patches all over my face. I reduced the amount of retinol to once a week but added this ointment to my regimen. I usually only use it as a second layer of moisturizer on problem areas. This is a very thick balm, so it works best if you warm it in your palms first. Then I dab/rub it into my dry patches. It seems to help.
