Review on 6 Pairs Of Merino Wool Thermal Crew Socks For Men And Women - Perfect For Winter Hiking, Hunting, Skiing, And Outdoor Sports by Jonathan Self

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great indoor sock, not the best for outdoors.

There are things to like and dislike about these socks, thus my neutral review rating.I think these socks are great for indoors , and can be substituted for slippers. The are padded, have non-slip soles, and they are warm -- they are great if your home has lots of non-carpet surface (like granite, hardwood, or marble for example) and you live in a colder climate (I live near Milwaukee, WI).On the other hand, the fit is not great -- two reasons for this, I believe. First, the socks don't have a lot of spandex or some similar fiber, and they do not fit snugly to my feet. Second, the soles -- probably because of the non-slip material -- are kind of stiff. They tend to bunch up uncomfortably under my arches if I put shoes or boots on. Also because these soles are generally loose fitting, the heels do not stay in place and can be pulled back harshly when putting shoes/boots on -- really binds the toes as a result! -- and get pulled off when I take shoes/boots off.If you are looking for warm socks for outdoors, my opinion is that you should pass on these socks. Indoors, they are good.

Pros
  • Great for cold days at home.Don't use the socks with skid pads in shoes.
Cons
  • They could cause sweating and blisters during long hikes
