Review on Bayco Glass Food Storage Containers With Lids - 24 Piece Set | Airtight Glass Lunch Bento Boxes For Meal Prep | Leak-Proof & BPA-Free | Blue Color by Evan Larson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Glass yes, Pyrex NO.and that matters!

We have 2 sets of glass storage containers, purchased within 3 months of one another in early 2020. One is this set, the other is a Snapware set. Over the last 2 years we've owned both sets, they have been treated identically. Stored together in the same cabinet, refrigerator to microwave use, dishwasher cleaned. While possible, we have never used either set in the oven. Aside from searching to find the right lids since the shapes and sizes are slightly different, both these and the Snapware set have been interchangeable in our kitchen. As you can see, all variables except materials and manufacturing have been isolated. Both sets seal perfectly, with this Bayco set sealing perhaps a little tighter (or at least the lids are a little more difficult to snap closed). After all the trips through the dishwasher, none of the lids have warped/melted and the seals are still soft, pliable and tight sealing. We've never had any leaking or issues with either set. Both sets get warm/hot when microwaved, but find me a glass/ceramic dish that doesn't. Neither the containers nor the lids have stained. While they function identically, there is one large fundamental difference between the two.Snapware uses Pyrex. We have noticed that many of the Bayco containers have chipped around the lip, sometimes leaving glass fragments in the bowl. We've had to take extra caution to ensure that we wipe them out before using them to avoid having glass fragments in our food. Not only is that extremely dangerous to your mouth and digestive system, we've thrown out several of the Bayco containers because they were left with sharp edges that could easily slice open a finger if not careful. EVERY one of our Snapware containers is still in perfect condition with no chips or sharp edges. In the end, these may be cheaper, but heed this warning review (and those posted by others), and spend the extra few dollars ($6 at the time I wrote this) to purchase the Snapware set. It's more durable and made from a much higher quality material.

Pros
  • The way the lids lick keeps a great seal.thicker glass than I expected
Cons
  • The glass material makes it heavy and difficult to carry around
