They are very soft and snuggly, you can wear them outside on a cool night, but they don't warm you when you use them as a winter mask on a motorcycle. I had to put 2 more layers on the bottom so my face didn't get cold driving home one night and in the 60's it was still cold. I think they are perfect for autumn and spring night riding. The fringe that runs along your face (above your nose and under your eyes) is quite thick and won't fit your face snugly.
