I bought two sets of these cables. They would get 5 stars if they connected immediately after plugging into the computer (you have to be careful when plugging them in) which you will see in other reviews. I slowly (partially) insert the cable until the light on my portable external drive changes from blue to red, then fully insert. I contacted a company I was happy to deal with and they offered me many cable replacement options. In the end, however, I decided to leave the cables behind and learn how to use them. No inconveniences at all. I use these cables seven days a week. I think it was a good buy considering their nuances.
