Review on Wacom Gen. 3 Bamboo Stylus Solo for Kindle Fire, iPad Pro, iPad/iPad Mini, Windows Tablets & Samsung Galaxy (Upgraded Version) by Brian Rivenbark

This is the third portable stylus I have owned and I love it. My first stylus was on my iPhone 3 days ago and was a pogo with a foam tip. It was terrible. The second was a promotional pen with a ballpoint pen. His rubber tip was barely a step above the pogo. I currently have a Samsung S5; and in combination with Sketchbook and Bamboo Solo it is a drawing machine. Here's my quick and dirty: Pros: * The carbon fiber tip glides well across the screen without slipping. * The cap snaps in well with an o-ring to ensure the tip is protected and the cap stays in place. *Good length for my medium sized hands. * Good weight. * Good fit and finish. Anodized aluminum body with slightly rubberized cap. * The clip on the cap keeps the pen in my pocket well. Cons (only one so far): * The cap doesn't like to stay on the end of the pen when removed (see the DIY section below). As mentioned above, the cap does not stay on the end of the pen. It stinks as without the cap I could see the carbon fiber tip picking up dirt, moisture etc. I almost gave the stylus 3 stars for this ridiculous omission by Wacom, but I ended up giving it 4 stars because for me it is and I found a workaround. But yes, Wacom, did you do field testing? How to protect your cap. Simply cut a 1/4 piece of heat shrink tubing (available here at Revain, your local hardware store or electronics store) and slide it over the end. This can be tricky, so I recommend wetting the end of the pen and tube. Then lay the pipe down to the back end of the handle (about 1/8 inch in my case). Then use a paper towel or a grip cloth to slide the tube down the pen body. You can see in my photo that I put in more than needed as the cap will not reach its original resting place due to the thickness of the shrink tubing. Finally, if you want (I think it's still a good idea), apply heat to shrink the tubing. I've warmed mine up and it hasn't come loose yet. If it comes off, I'll most likely use a small amount of glue (hairspray, Loc-Tite, etc.) on my next try. Anyway, now that the fix is complete I'm a happy sketcher with my Bamboo Solo! I will update if anything changes.
