Review on 🧡 Learn to Sew for Kids: My First Sewing Machine at Fashion School by Kelsey Brown

Great for a young fashionista

I bought this for my 10 year old niece who wanted to learn to sew. I reviewed various books, read reviews and settled on this one. Here's why: 1) Cute and modern designs. He has designs for useful and cute things that today's girl would really love to wear or use. Enthusiasm for a project is half the battle. I remember in 4-H and Home-EC they made me make disgusting things that we never used or wore and didn't like learning to sew for me. 2) Easy construction and quick satisfaction. This book has a lot of basics (which is why it's certainly good for a beginner). Projects are quick and easy to set up. You don't want to overload a child and make them hate sewing by giving them difficult and time-consuming projects right away! 3) Age-appropriate drawings, graphics, and wording. If you are looking for an easy book for a young girl, this is the perfect choice. Don't expect a stitch encyclopedia, a professional-level guide, or an "everything you need to know about sewing" resource. Expect a great age/audience/project appropriate book for beginners.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
