Once I assembled the correct wires I was happy!

After reading many conflicting reviews, I took the chance and tried the light on myself. I bought it for my 1998 K1500 Silverado. I had to cut the connector off, but that's because someone already cut the connector off the truck's wiring harness, so I can't tell if the connector will fit. However, I had to play around with wires and combos. This works fine for me: my truck has 2 brownish white wires, one black wire and one blue white wire. I connected the wires like this: black and yellow light to the black truck color (no need to cut the yellow wire like a lot of people did) white light to the blue/white truck color, red light to one of the yellow ones /brown colors of the truck. (had to experiment to see which one worked) * The other truck's tan/white wire was not used at all. Through all my research I found that the light wiring was set up like this: Black for ground, red for brake lights, white for reverse/cargo, amber for running lights When everything worked I was blown away! Light works as it should. I have brake lights that come on even when the cargo switch is off. When I then turn on the cargo switch, the two LEDs on the ends light up, as well as the brake light when I press it. However, the reversing lights do not burn, which suits me perfectly. On my truck it doesn't look like the wiring harness is connected to the reverse lights so I don't think it's a product defect (could be wrong). It hasn't affected the rest of my headlights, nor shorted any fuses. It took a little while to install, but I took my time and really took my time. Can't tell yet if they will withstand rain or how bright they are as I installed them during the day. I will try to update my review in about a month. Hope that helps! Update: It's now the end of December and I've had no problems with it! Works as expected, no leaks. I wish it was brighter, but it's better than no light. It certainly rained A LOT and was always muggy but there was no fogging. I put silicone around the lantern to keep moisture out, so it probably has something to do with that.

Pros
  • Good performance
Cons
  • There are flaws
