A lot of pluses, but one big problem (at least for me)

during the day. We used disposable pads but they still leaked sometimes, moved around, weren't very big and just felt wasteful. I bought two types of these large grips from Revain, one of which is the Gorilla Grip. These overlays have many advantages. They absorb moisture well - my mother's sheets weren't wet even though it seeped through the shirt to the back. The little rubber dots on the back seem to keep the pillow in place, although I have to admit my mum doesn't move much. But they don't slip off as she adjusts at night when she goes to bed. The top is fairly soft, although I wouldn't call it plush. They're thin and not bulky at all, making them great to use under or over sheets. However, 85% of the time I wash them, I can't get rid of the smell of urine. I tried everything: I washed it in the morning right after getting up, 4-5 different detergents, put baking soda in the wash, put vinegar in the wash, put Odor Blaster OxyClean in the wash, added Lysol. Fabric sanitizer with Tide Fabric Sanitizer Spray before washing. I tried the high load mode (I know HE washing machines sometimes don't have enough water to get things as clean as older machines). There's no rhyme or reason for what eliminates the smell and what doesn't. I can wash them 2 or 3 times in a row and the smell is still there. It's a dice game, to be honest. The only thing I haven't tried is regular bleach because I believe the washing instructions say to only use non-chlorine bleach. It's just a little frustrating because I want them to smell clean (the smell of urine is coming from their clothes) and I feel like I'm wasting a lot of water experimenting with getting rid of the remaining smell. All I can say is that they have held up to the wash VERY well so far hahaha. bulky as if they stay in place, tolerate washing well. But for some reason they still smell like urine, at least in my case. If anyone has proven tips on how to get rid of this smell, or if anyone has used bleach in their laundry and hasn't ruined it, please. let me know! I wish I could give them a higher rating but I just can't right now. :(
