it's pretty but also pretty useless

This is by far the best looking moisturizer that Revain has to offer. But unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I think this is probably a new product so I took a chance when there were only 1-2 reviews. Unfortunately, the risk was not worth it and I would definitely NOT recommend it for the following reasons. First, it doesn't live up to its promise as a moisturizer. I set the humidity at 40 for a small to medium sized room (which would be served well by other not so nice humidifiers) and placed a humidity meter a few feet from this humidifier. The meter never exceeded 31% from the initial reading of 29%, even when the humidifier was running at full capacity. I literally needed a maximum mist blown right in my face for me to feel the benefit of the humidifier. If I turn it 90 degrees away from me, I suffer from dryness in my sleep and even more when I wake up in the morning. 2. This is not a diffuser as advertised. It accommodates drops of essential oil, but the effect is very small. After applying over 10 drops of lavender oil, I had to dip my face right into the mist to smell a faint scent so the oil would definitely not scatter elsewhere in the room. The rest are minor (but really not that minor) issues: 3. The instructions say to clean it with vinegar every few days. Not sure if it's vinegar - I rinsed it really well afterwards - but after the first cleaning it started blowing out a REALLY SMELLY "sour" mist which just blew me away. I had to turn it on all night looking for a new humidifier, but turned it away from my face, but I couldn't stand the smell - it was like constantly wet clothes in the washing machine that stinks - but that also meant I didn't have any of benefited from a humidifier because the mist was not blown directly into my face.4. water consumption. I have to admit I didn't use store bought purified water. I have to fill up to 4 liters of this every day so I don't think buying a large bottle every day is realistic, it would be expensive and a waste of plastic and not easy to come by during a pandemic. So I went with fridge filtered water for the first week, which was fine, and then switched to Brita filtered water, which didn't seem to work either. Since I haven't used it with the purest water, I didn't list that as a reason for returning it, but be aware that if you're looking for a low-maintenance humidifier, that's not the case. . It starts to smell after 1-2 days and there are many small parts that cannot be cleaned. After just 3 weeks I'm already seeing red mold growing in tiny spots that neither my hands nor the brush that came with it could reach. I'll buy an evaporative humidifier instead, now they make quieter ones, about 36db. The only plus of this humidifier is that it is relatively quiet. I am very sensitive to machine noise. So when it's louder (like our other popular Revain humidifier in the house) I can't sleep. Used the measurement app and it was around 31-35 dB. Not bad. All in all this is kind of a 'nice but silly' humidifier, for reasons #1 and #2 I'm returning it and based on all of the above I wouldn't recommend it.
