Mukluk's Hack: It CAN be waterproof!

Mukluk's Hack: They CAN be waterproof! be painful. I searched everywhere for something that was comfortable to wear, wouldn't fall off, and protected from salt and chemicals, but to no avail. Mukluks are by far the best boots I've found, they fit him well and don't fall off while walking, but they are NOT waterproof. As they say, necessity (desperation) is the mother of ingenuity. I had an otterwax bar that I used to waterproof some materials. I won't lie that it took me about 2 hours to make all four boots, but it was worth it! Below are all the steps I used. I'm sure my boy's feet will stay dry walking in small puddles, but I think they'll leak if they're fully submerged in water. As with any waterproofing, they must be kept clean, washed with leather soap and waterproofed again. Otter Was does not stretch the material and over time, as with any waterproofing product, the more you care for and reapply, the more waterproof the item will become. Note. The company recommends washing them in the washing machine. After waxing it would be a very bad idea. Requires: hair dryer, Ottor wax, soft toothbrush, a few rags. a little (not much) Step Two: Use a hair dryer to heat the soles including the seam areas (I used high heat). Step Three: Rub the wax into the skin, making sure it gets onto the seams. Heat the wax on the front side, it will be erased. I used a soft toothbrush to rub the wax into the stitching as well as the leather itself. Warm up, apply the wax again until the hard and rough leather surface is 100 percent smooth. It took about 30 minutes per boot, but again it was worth it for us. Although I waterproofed the seams, I was careful not to wax the front of the nylon, although I will go back and redo this area if necessary . The right boot is untouched, the middle boot is done, and the left one is almost done. ed. After I was done I put her in the sink and left her there to test her handy work and she held up as expected! There are many videos on You Tube that can help. I add that the waterproofness of boots depends solely on your handwork. For many, it may not be worth two hours to maintain waterproofing, but for us, it's worth it.
