Review on YONGNUO YN560-III-USA Speedlite Flash with Built-in 2.4-GHz ๐Ÿ“ธ Receiver for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, GN58, US Warranty (Black) by Vinny Howard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Big power, manual controls, eats batteries. Good value though.

I bought 3 of these and used them for some portraits. They work well indoors. INFRARED TRIGGER DOESN'T WORK BADLY OUTSIDE! Forget IR radiation and use Pocket Wizards. Photographing these devices with the camera's pop-up flash worked very well indoors with my Nikon D-610. I was able to get units to fire sequentially with my popup at 1/16 power. It's good if nobody else fires a flash. For weddings, you must use Pocket Wizard or another radio trigger. They're entirely manual, so expect a learning curve unless you've spent time in the old-school "dumb" Flashes. As for me, I like manual flashes because they're cheap and they always put out the brightness you set them to. TTL blocks are easy to fool. Battery life is short because these devices may not have a recycling loop. I don't have more flashes at different powers than at full power. This means that each flash consumes full power, regardless of the settings. The excess is discarded. Too bad. Batteries get hot and wear out quickly. Not suitable for wedding and event photography. But you get more power for 40 or 50 flashes with four AA batteries. Conclusion: good value for money.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
