Review on Streamlined Music Experience: NETGEAR Wireless Digital Music Player by Rich Schobinger

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent but not wireless

So I ordered this and unexpectedly found this $250 product at $30, got standard shipping, arrived in about 5 days, installed the compact drive at my desktop in my living room where i have a roadrunner cable modem and a netgear super g 108mbps wireless router so everything is fine then i plug in the player, connect the red and white audio cables to the receiver and turn on the netgear , and it says it found a wireless network, it found it, but when I tried to log in there was nothing but that network, after I found it and pasted my network name here, so I've got a short old ethernet cable to the second port on my router and I connected the green audio cable that came from my speakers to my computer to the player in. I turn it on, it says we found a wired network, it has my network name, and of course all the songs I loaded into the program they gave me were there. I was so relieved I wasted $37. So I go on the internet and I find firmware 3.7 I think and I do everything jazz related and when I turn it on it finds my laptop and all the music I have. I was like a miracle, I forgot to turn on the ottoman, I also installed the program on my laptop. So I had the songs on my laptop and my mother's songs on my desktop. Now all I have to do is buy a 50 foot network cable that runs along the wall to my receiver so I can put the player on top of my audio receiver and connect red/white to red/white and BAM 5.1 surround. The LCD screen is bright and easy to read, the controls are very convenient, there are no buttons on the player so my adviser doesn't lose on the remote control. generally costs $37.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I don't remember

but wireless setup is kind of primitive and could be improved. Otherwise streams good..
